Free PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study) Exam Questions and Answers

This is a system-level research study, not a qualification you can earn. Schools and students are sampled statistically, each student sees only a fraction of the item pool, and results are reported as population estimates for education systems — no individual ever receives a score, and there is nothing to pass or fail. PIRLS is the IEA's reading-literacy study, run from the same Boston College centre as TIMSS, and it assesses grade-four pupils on a five-year cycle that has run since 2001. It looks at two purposes for reading — literary experience and acquiring information — and at comprehension processes from retrieving stated detail through to evaluating content and style. It is the main international yardstick for primary reading, and its data is what most cross-country claims about early literacy ultimately rest on.
