Exampractice

How to play

10 questions, 15 seconds each, four options, and a score that depends on how hard the question was, how fast you were and how many you got right in a row. Everything below is the whole rulebook.

1. A set

  • 10 questions, four options each. Tap an option, or press 14 or AD on a keyboard.
  • 15 seconds a question. The ring counts down and turns red at five. When it hits zero the question is marked wrong and the next one comes up — there is no pausing.
  • Easiest first. Every set is ordered from its easiest question to its hardest, so the big points are at the end.
  • Straight feedback. You see right or wrong, the points you just earned and the correct option immediately. There is no review afterwards — this is a game, not an exam.
  • Same set, other people. Every set is shared: the people who played it before you are the board you land on, and one of them (a friend, if you have one) plays alongside you as your opponent.
  • Quitting. Leaving a set mid-way scores the unanswered questions as zero. You cannot replay a set you have already played.
  • Distraction-free. The full-screen icon on the play screen hides everything but the game.

2. Scoring

Base points, by difficulty
Easy100
Medium200
Hard400
Extra hard800

A wrong or timed-out answer scores 0 and resets your streak.

Streak bonus

From your second correct answer in a row, each question earns an extra 5% of its base points: +5% on the 2nd, +10% on the 3rd, capped at +15% from the 4th onwards. One wrong answer and it starts again.

Speed bonus — Quick Play only

Up to +20% of the base points, shrinking with every second you take: answer instantly for the full bonus, at the buzzer for none. The clock is the server’s, not your browser’s, with 2.5 seconds of grace for a slow connection.

Worked example. A medium question (200 pts), your third correct in a row, answered after 5 seconds in Quick Play: 200 base + 20 streak + 27 speed = 247 points. The same answer in the Daily Challenge, where speed does not count, is worth 220.

3. Levels — how you move from easy to extra hard

Everyone starts on Starter sets. Finish sets accurately and you unlock harder mixes with bigger points; nobody meets an extra-hard question until Advanced. Your level is checked after every set, counts every set you finish (Quick Play, Daily and group rounds) against your lifetime accuracy, and only ever goes up.

Your current level, and exactly what the next one needs, is on your profile.

4. Daily Challenge

  • One set a day, the same for everyone. A new one lands at midnight UTC.
  • One attempt. No replays, and no speed bonus — it is a test of what you know, not how fast you tap.
  • Built at the Regular mix, whatever your level, so it is the fairest board on the site.
  • Streak. Play it on consecutive days (UTC) and your daily streak climbs; miss a day and it resets.

5. Leaderboards

  • World board. Every set you finish this week adds its points. Resets Monday 00:00 UTC, so a new player can be top by Tuesday.
  • Friends board. The same points, just you and your friends.
  • Daily board. Everyone who played today’s challenge, ranked by score.
  • Category boards. The week’s points in one category — find the one you own.
  • Set boards. Every set has its own: everyone who played those ten questions, and where you came.

6. Friends

  • Your friend code is on your profile. Send it with the share buttons; whoever adds it is your friend straight away — no approval step, because a code is only known to the people you gave it to.
  • Head-to-head. On any set a friend has already played, they become your opponent: you see their running score under every question.
  • Challenge a score. Every result has a share link; whoever opens it gets the same ten questions and your score to beat.

7. Groups

  • Make one for your office, family, class or pub team. Pick a category (or mixed), a difficulty, how many rounds and how long each lasts.
  • Join code. Share it; each person asks to join and the group’s owner accepts or declines them.
  • Rounds. Each round is one set, the same for everyone in the group, open for its window. Play it before it closes.
  • Standings. Round scores add up. In groups with more than two rounds your worst round is dropped, so one missed week does not end your season.

8. Results

Every finished set gets a result card — score, squares, streak, time — that you can download or share to X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Facebook. All of them are kept on your Results page.

9. Kids Zone

9 categories written for younger players, with the same game and the same scoring. A kids group always uses Starter-level questions. Kids categories never appear in a mixed adult set.

10. Accounts

You can play without an account — everything is kept in this browser. Sign in whenever you like and your scores, streak, level, friends and groups come with you to any device. The quiz is free, with no adverts and nothing to buy.
