Free TOEFL Reading Comprehension: Test of English as a Foreign Language - Reading Comprehension Exam Questions and Answers
TOEFL Reading is one of four sections in the TOEFL iBT, which ETS shortened on 26 July 2023 to about two hours by removing unscored trial items and revising the writing task. The reading section presents academic passages with questions on main idea, inference, vocabulary in context, sentence insertion and summarising — the emphasis is on locating and relating information rather than on recalling subject knowledge, so the passages are deliberately drawn from fields you are not expected to know. Note that ETS is changing how results are reported: from January 2026 the primary scale is 1 to 6 per section, with the familiar 0-to-120 total retained only as a comparable secondary score during a two-year transition.
