Network consultant or professional-services engineer

Consultancies, managed service providers and Cisco partner firms hire CCNP holders to deliver projects for clients: site rollouts, SD-WAN deployments, network assessments and migrations. Partner organisations in particular value staff certifications, which makes the credential more directly bankable here than in an internal IT team.

The consultant role demands a broader soft-skill set than an internal engineering job — you present designs to non-technical stakeholders, scope work, and walk into unfamiliar environments and make sense of them quickly. The 300-435 ENAUTO concentration points at one of the fastest-moving corners of the field: roles that blend networking with programmability — building automation for configuration, validation and reporting rather than doing it by hand. Job titles vary (network automation engineer, NetDevOps engineer, network reliability engineer), and employers hiring for them usually want scripting ability demonstrated alongside the certification, not implied by it.
